According to the most recent ICC Men’s ODI rankings for batters, Ireland’s Harry Tector has surpassed famous cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, and Jos Butcher. Tector joined the top 10 after collecting the most rating points ever by a male batter from Ireland.
The right-handed batter, who now has a remarkable total of 722 points, rose nine spots to number seven in the rankings as a result of his outstanding performance in the latest three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. The 23-year-old player, who made 206 runs over three innings, emerged as the series’ top run-scorer.
Tector’s second ODI performance, in which he showcased his batting skills with a spectacular 140 runs off 113 balls, was his biggest contribution. Despite his heroics, Ireland lost the series against Bangladesh 0-2 when the first game was called off due to poor weather.
Andy Balbirnie, the captain of Ireland, praised Tector’s tremendous skill and his ability to go down in Irish cricket history as one of the greats. Balbirnie stated, “He’s just got all the attributes to go on and be one of the greats of Irish cricket, and I hope that we can help him on his way, and he continues to put in scores for us. The more runs he gets for us, the better place we’re going to be.”
Tector’s remarkable achievements received significant praise, despite Ireland losing the series. He surpassed Paul Stirling, who had 697 ODI rating points in June 2021, who had previously held the title for the greatest score by an Irish male batter.
Ireland fans excitedly look forward to seeing Tector continue to contribute to Ireland’s cricket success as he continues to display his batting prowess.
