Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu is set to retire after IPL 2023. Rayudu, 37, will play his last match of the tournament in the much-awaited IPL 2023 Final between CSK and Gujarat Titans which was originally scheduled on Sunday (May 28). Ahead of the final match, the batter took to his Twitter to announce the development to his fans and cricket fraternity.
He played for two of the most successful franchises in the tournament including Mumbai Indians and CSK. CSK bought Rayudu in 2018 for INR 2.2 Crores and again for INR 6.75 Crores in IPL 2022 Auctions. Before that, he played for the Mumbai Indians between 2010-17 and during that time, he tasted success with the franchise after having scored tons of runs and winning three IPL trophies in 2013, 2015, & 2017.
With CSK, the batter has won two trophies including in 2018 and in 2021 and could get to lift the trophy for the 6th time if CSK defeats Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 Final.
In his tweet, he summarised his glorious journey ever since making his debut in IPL in 2010 as he wrote:
“2 great teams mi nd csk, 204 matches,14 seasons,11 playoffs,8 finals,5 trophies.hopefully 6th tonight. It’s been quite a journey.I have decided that tonight’s final is going to be my last game in the Ipl.i truly hav enjoyed playing in this great tournament. Thank u all. No, u turn.”

Ambati Rayudu IPL Career
No doubt, Rayudu has been one of the very few players who has tasted such glorious success in the history of IPL. And to cast light on his personal achievement, Rayudu has so far played 203 IPL matches and scored 4329 runs at an average of 28.29 and a strike rate of 127.29 which also includes 22 fifties and an unbeaten 100* as his highest score.
He will highly likely play the final against Gujarat Titans before bidding adieu to World’s most popular T20 league. Unfortunately the scheduled IPL 2023 final couldn’t take place due to heavy rain on May 28. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has kept a reserve day on May 29 i.e., on Monday in case the match is not possible in any likelihood.
If the match washes out on the reserve day which is highly unlikely, the match referees will look towards having a five-overs-a-side game. If even is not possible then match officials will head on to the super over; and in the worst-case scenario due to the rain, the team that finished higher at the end of the league stage will lift IPL 2023 Trophy.
