Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in a breathtaking climax, achieving their record-extending fifth championship. On the reserve day, CSK beat Gujarat Titans under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in an exciting match at Ahmedabad’s iconic Narendra Modi Stadium as the full list of IPL 2023 awards was also announced.
CSK managed to finish their mission of chasing down 171 runs in 15 overs to the late heroics of Ravindra Jadeja, who hit a six and fours on the last two balls.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, had to settle for the second spot despite the heroic efforts of Shubman Gill, the Orange Cap winner, and Mohammed Shami, the Purple Cap winner.
For his outstanding performance throughout the 16th season of the IPL, Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans dynamic opener, was voted the Player of the Tournament. Gill knocked Royal Challengers Bangalore from the tournament with a brilliant century, and he then drove GT to the final game against Mumbai Indians with another superb century.
Mohammed Shami, who ended the competition with a dazzling total of 28 wickets, failed to improve on that total in the final, letting up 29 runs in 3 overs without scooping up a wicket.
