Former Australian cricketer and coach Justin Langer is about to take charge as the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming Indian Premier League season.
According to reports, Langer is the front-runner to succeed Andy Flower, whose two-year contract with the team will come to an end following the conclusion of the IPL 2023.
Although the Lucknow-based team is yet to make a formal announcement, it is believed that the LSG management has started talking to Langer.
The prospective hiring of Langer as head coach indicates the team’s dedication to finding an experienced and reputable individual in the cricketing scene.
Langer is at present preoccupied with his commentary commitments for the current Ashes 2023 series. He achieved success in Australia’s premier domestic league, the Big Bash League, winning three major titles for the Perth Scorchers.
The Lucknow Super Giants have excelled under Andy Flower’s leadership, making it to the knockout stages the last two seasons. To take the team to new heights, the management appears focused to look into new possibilities and find new leaders.
Justin Langer To Replace Andy Flower As Lucknow Super Giants Coach
Despite Flower’s leaving, the remainder of the coaching staff is projected to stay around. The team’s coaching staff will remain consistent and stable with Morne Morkel staying the bowling coach, Jonty Rhodes remaining the fielding coach, and Vijay Dahiya remaining the assistant coach.
Despite a disappointing defeat against the Mumbai Indians in qualifier 2 in IPL 2023, the Lucknow Super Giants’ most recent IPL campaign has been positive. Under the direction of a new head coach, the franchise plans to build on its achievements to improve its team even more in the upcoming season.
While the Lucknow Super Giants make big changes to their coaching staff, it is also expected that other IPL teams that had disappointing performances will do the same.
Surprisingly, the Chandrakant Pandit-led Kolkata Knight Riders, who placed seventh last season, are likely to keep their current coaching staff. The team’s confidence in the current coaching staff and dedication to revitalizing their performance in the next IPL season is shown in their decision.
