The ongoing edition of the Asia Cup has been glittering and catching the attention of cricket fans all over the globe. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are likely the two finalists as India crashed out virtually after losing to the Lankan lions last night. It has caused a major shuffle in the ICC T20I Rankings for men.
Apart from the team triumph, another sizzling topic has been the ongoing tussle between Pakistani batsmen Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan and Indian veteran Suryakumar’s battle for the top spot in the ICC T20I Batting Rankings. Mohammed Rizwan has overtaken Pakistan skipper Babar Azam as the No. 1 batter in the rankings.
Babar Azam soared high with a marvellous lead last week but has been struggling with a string of low scores since the past few matches. On the other side, Mohammed Rizwan and Suryakumar Yadav have been in consistent touch to score runs.
Babar Azam failed to cross the 20-run mark in the last three games, two against India and one against Hong Kong. Azam has been finding it difficult to get through and patch his stunning form at the slow turfs in the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, his partner and counterpart Mohammed Rizvwan has been consistent and marvellous in the ongoing edition of the championship. Rizwan is the leading run-scorer at Asia Cup 2022 with 192 runs in three matches. He smashed 43 and 71 against India and a 68* against Hong Kong.
Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav has also been in brilliant form at the tournament. He smashed a vital knock of 28 against Pakistan, a splendid 68* against Hong Kong and a crucial knock of 34 in the last game against Sri Lanka.
Resultantly, Babar Azam has moved to the second position of the standings with a rating of 794 whereas Mohammed Rizwan now leads with 815 and Suryakumar Yadav ranks fourth with 775.
