For the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia, the ICC has announced the 20 match officials for the First Round and the Super 12s stages. The tournament is set to take place from October 16 to November 13.
16 umpires and four match referees have been finalized for the tournament. Richard Kettleborough, Nitin Menon, Kumara Dharmasena and Marais Erasmus, the umpires in charge of the final of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will also be part of this tournament.
This will be the eighth version of the T20 World Cup. Ranjan Madugalle, the Chair Referee of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees will be joined by Andrew Pycroft of Zimbabwe, Christopher Broad of England and Australian David Boon.
Rodney Tucker and Joel Wilson are set to officiate the tournament opener on October 16 when Sri Lanka plays Namibia in the first round with Andrew Pycroft of Zimbabwe as the match referee. The fourth umpire will be Marais Erasmus along with Paul Reiffel as the TV umpire.
Langton Rusere will be seen umpiring his second World Cup of the year with first being the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022. He was also a reserve umpire for the final. He will be the TV umpire on October 22 when Australia takes on New Zealand joining the on-field umpire, Dharamsena and the fourth umpire, Richard Illingworth.
