SA-W vs AUS-W: South Africa will be locking horns with Australia in the 15th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 at Boland Park in Paarl. The South African cricket team are sitting at the third spot on the points table, having managed to secure a solitary win in two matches.
The hosts suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in their first match but came roaring back with a 65-run victory against New Zealand in their next encounter.
South Africa’s batting hasn’t clicked so far. In their last match against New Zealand, South Africa was restricted to just 132 runs in the first innings. The top order, once again, failed to make an impact as the first four wickets fell for just 55 runs on the board.
C Tyron rescued the team with a 34-ball 40-run knock and helped them reach a total that they could fight with. Nadine de Klerk also chipped in with a handy contribution of 28 runs in 26 deliveries. A 132-run total proved more than enough, in the end, as South Africa bundled out New Zealand for just 67 runs in the second innings.
Nonkululeko Mlaba starred with the ball, picking 3 for 10 runs in 4 overs, while the likes of Chloe Tryon and Marizanne Kapp claimed two wickets each. South Africa would want to continue the winning momentum. But, it won’t be easy as facing them is Australia, who have been nothing short of outstanding so far in the tournament.
Australia Women are on a three-match winning streak
