AFG vs BAN: The Bangladesh Cricket Board has named the squad for Bangladesh’s three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Chattogram which is set to take place next month. On July 8, Bangladesh will play all of its games at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Afif Hossain and Mohammad Naim have been added to Bangladesh’s 15-man roster for the three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Afghanistan beginning on July 5. After suffering an injury during the ODIs against Ireland, pace bowler Taskin Ahmed also rejoined the team. He had been disqualified from the next Test against Ireland as a result.
Taskin made his comeback to the international cricket scene during the just-finished Test series against Afghanistan.
“This is the last series before the Asia Cup and we want to see some players and that is the reason we have picked Naim and Afif Hossain,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz on Saturday.
“Both( Afif and Naim) of them played in the domestic circuit to earn their spot back in the team,” he said.
“Mrittunjoy could not retain his place as Taskin returned while we are thinking of Rony Talukdar in the T20I format. As far as Yasir is concerned we are not considering him in the ODIs for the time being,” he added.
Naim qualified for the ODIs by amassing 932 runs at an average of 71.69 through 16 games in the Dhaka Premier League, the nation’s customary list A competition. In 15 DPL games, Afif scored 550 runs at an average of 55.
Yasir Ali, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, and Rony Talukdar could not succeed in keeping their spots in the ODI team.
