AFG vs BAN: Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) decided to rest top player Rashid Khan for the forthcoming one-off Test against Bangladesh. The announcement arrived as the cricket board released its 15-player Test team, which includes three intriguing uncapped players. On June 14, the Test match is set to start at the Sher-e-Bangla National Field.
Rashid Khan’s absence from the team has drawn attention, especially in light of his outstanding performance in the most recent Test match between the two countries.
Rashid Khan was given a day off because of the heavy workload he had to bear, according to Raees Ahmadzai, Afghanistan’s assistant coach. Rashid’s health is the number one concern for the squad, according to Ahmadzai, especially in regard to his back ailment. The player recently missed the first two One-Day Internationals against Sri Lanka but returned in the final match. And that has in most likelihood cost Afghanistan the series by 1-2 against Dasun Shanaka-led side. Although Afghanistan has been struggling in seemingly all departments including its batting woes that severely cost them the series.
ACB is excited to see how their young spinner, Izharulhaq, performs under the pressure of international cricket. Izharulhaq, a talented leg spinner, has been selected for the Test team and will be able to show his versatility.
Karim Janat, a medium-pace bowling all-rounder who performed excellently in the Ahmad Shah Abdali Tournament, has been added to the team. Janat’s outstanding performance resulted in his being named the competition’s best player, which also secured him a spot in the Test squad.
The reserve squad for the tour includes Zia Ur Rahman Akbar, Noor Ali Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Sayed Ahmad Shirzad.
Cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the results of the upcoming Test match against Bangladesh as the Afghanistan Cricket Board plans to improve player fitness and find fresh talent.
