The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most popular cricket league across the globe. The tournament has entered its 16th edition as it was launched in 2008. IPL witnesses the participation of a number of domestic, national as well as overseas cricketers. While the batsmen play a prominent role in the championship, bowlers are also renowned for chipping in crucial wickets and defending the opposition to hunt steep targets. During the course of the 16 years of the tournament, some iconic players have achieved the feat of breaching the record of the fastest 100 wickets in IPL.
Many pacers and spinners have succeeded in scalping numerous wickets across all the editions. Kagiso Rabada broke the five-year-long record held by Lasith Malinga and claimed the fastest 100 wickets at IPL in only 63 innings. Malinga had taken 70 innings. Rabada scripted history playing for Punjab Kings against Gujarat Titans in their fourth pool stage fixture at the 2023 edition of IPL. Unfortunately, Punjab Kings lost the last thriller game.
Kagiso Rabada was out for the initial period of the IPL due to national commitments. He stormed back in the side against Gujarat and achieved a milestone. Many bowlers have held the record earlier.

Kagiso Rabada
South African pacer Kagiso Rabada became the fastest bowler to claim 100 wickets in IPL. The Punjab Kings pacer achieved the remarkable feat in the last night clash against Gujarat Titans. Rabada claimed the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha to complete his quota of 100 wickets in only 64 IPL fixtures.
Lasith Malinga
Legendary pacer Lasith Malinga previously held the record of the quickest bowler to claim 100 IPL wickets. Malinga has been a consistent part of the Mumbai Indians franchise and he now holds the record of second fastest to 100 IPL wickets. Malinga achieved the milestone in 70 matches on May 18, 2018.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
Veteran pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is the overall third and the fastest Indian to scalp 100 wickets in IPL. Bhuvaneshwar took 81 innings to complete his 100 wickets in the cash-rich league. Kumar represents the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise and he embarked on the magnificent feat on April 17, 2017.
Rashid Khan
Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been a fascinating part of the IPL. Rashid completed his 100 wickets in the 2022 edition of the tournament while featuring for the triumphant Gujarat Titans and he took only 83 innings to achieve the feat and holds the record of the joint-fourth position to achieve the milestone. Rashid had previously featured for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Amit Mishra
Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra is the joint fourth-fastest bowler to claim 100 wickets in IPL. Mishra has predominantly played for Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad throughout his career. Mishra took 83 innings to achieve the remarkable milestone on 10th May 2014.
Ashish Nehra
Ace Indian Left-Arm pacer Ashish Nehra had a mesmerizing career at IPL. Nehra is the joint-fourth fastest bowler to grab 100 wickets at IPL while he played for the Chennai Super Kings franchise. Nehra completed the feat on 5th April 2017.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Ace Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is the fifth-fastest bowler to reach 100 IPL wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal achieved the marvellous feat while representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 04, 2019. Chahal took 84 wickets to complete his century of wickets at IPL.
Chahal sums up the Top 5 bowlers to claim the Fastest 100 wickets in the tournament. While the incumbent records seem to be absolutely stunning, the emerging bowlers will definitely pour in their efforts and break the record to succeed. Some flourishing talent including Umran Malik, Ravi Bishnoi and Harshal Patel are the frontrunners to etch the record.
